Cheap Date Ideas

Bread + Butter

Location: 74 Buchanan Street, McCormick Lane, Glasgow, G1 3AJ
Next up on cheap eats is Bread + Butter. Although this place doesn’t have the biggest menu, it’s quick and to the point – you’ll take less time choosing what to order and more time chatting to your date. At weekends, you’ll usually find Bread + Butter to have a buzzing atmosphere. Food is served until 9pm and drinks until late so you don’t need to worry about having to find somewhere for drinks after your meal. I would recommend going on a Wednesday night with your date for the half price cocktails but only if you have the Thursday off of work…

Amore Ristorante e Pizzeria

Location: 30 Ingram Street, Merchant City, Glasgow, G1 1EZ
You cannot beat a date night with good food and low prices. Amore is an Italian restaurant in the Merchant City of Glasgow that serves very tasty food with generous portions and has a menu with lots of options to suit everyone. I recommend taking a look at their Lunch/Early Evening Menu. This menu still has so many dishes to choose from and offers 3 courses for £10.95 on weekdays and £13.95 at the weekend. That’s cheaper than ONE course in some places!

The Shandon Belles

Location: 652-654 Argyle Street, Glasgow, G3 8UF
The Shandon Belles is a hidden gem. It is part of the Two Fat Ladies group of restaurants and can be found in the basement of the Buttery. The restaurant is small so has a homely and cosy feel to it. The food is sensational. Here, you will get top quality food for affordable prices. If you’re a foodie, then you will fall in love with this place, however the menu might not be for everyone, so make sure you and your date have a look at it beforehand. Check out the menu here and book your table here.

NY Bar and Grill

Location: Princes Street Shopping Centre, 48 Buchanan Street, Glasgow, G1 3JX
NY Bar and Grill restaurant is a casual dining restaurant in Princes Square that is a great place to go for a cheap bite to eat. Its menu is inspired by classic American dishes like ribs, hot dogs and deli sandwiches. If these aren’t getting your mouth watering then don’t worry, there are plenty more options on the menu. To save that extra bit, you can choose to order from the Lunch/Pre-Theatre Menu which offers 2 courses for £13.50. I would recommend ordering one of their amazing cocktails after your meal – you won’t be disappointed!
